Team Taya had a fantastic time at the NSW State Championships held at Blacktown Leisure Centre, Stanhope Gardens last 12 August 2018 which served as the Selections for the Australian National Championships to be held in Bendigo, VIC from 22-24 September 2018 bringing home a total of 25 medals - 15 Golds, 7 Silvers and 3 Bronzes from our sparring and poomsae athletes.

We are off to Nationals! Well done Team Taya! Thank you for the support, encouragement and loud cheers from our parents and families and our dedicated coaches.

 

Team Taya had a wonderful time and delivered a successful result at the Gold Coast Open held at the Gold Coast Sports and Leisure Centre last 28-29 July 2018 with our 17 young athletes bringing home a total of 35 medals over the two-day competition, tally as follows: 19 Golds, 10 Silvers, 6 Bronzes in sparring and poomsae. This is an excellent preparation for the upcoming NSW State Selections on August 12 and Australian National Championships on September 22-24.

There were notable performances with Aaditya Kadam winning both Black Belt Juniors <45 kg and <48 kg over 5 fights, Shreyas Gurelli winning both Blue Belt Juniors < 59 kg and < 63 kg over 3 fights rendering his first technical knockout, Ayaan Shetty winning Yellow Belt 8-9 years < 24 kg and < 27 kg over 6 fights, Jade Macgowan winning Blue and Yellow Belt 8-9 years < 24 kg over 3 fights, Diego Querubin winning Black Belt < 27 kg and a close Silver in Red Belt over 5 fights, Ysabella Querubin winning Black Belt Cadets < 44 kg stopping fight in first round under 25 seconds and Sofia Querubin winning Black Belt Cadets < 37 kg and Silver in < 41 kg over 3 fights even with injury.

Team Taya competed against the country's best taekwondo athletes at the recent Australian National Team Selections Event held at AIS Main Arena in Canberra for the 2018 Oceania Championships winning 1 Gold, 2 Silvers and 1 Bronze medals. A big congratulations to our cadet athlete Sofia Querubin who won her match in a dominant technical fashion and tenacity with a score of 48-5 and made it to the Australian National Team. Team results as follows:

It was a great weekend of competitions at the AIS Main Arena in Canberra last 7-8 July 2018 which commenced with Team Taya fighting against the country's best taekwondo athletes for a spot in the Australian Team for the 2018 Oceania Championships with Sofia Querubin winning Gold, Ysabella Querubin winning first match but losing in finals and settling for Silver, Connor Fleming with Silver and Aaditya Kadam with a Bronze medal.

This was followed by the two-day ACT CCC Championships with Team Taya performing strongly bringing home a total of 35 medals - 15 Golds, 9 Silvers, 11 Bronzes in sparring and poomsae. Our cadet girls Ysabella and Sofia had the opportunity to fight Hankuk athletes from Madrid, Spain who were European Championships Cadet Medallists and learned from the experience. There were excellent performances from all of our young athletes notably from double gold medallists Diego Querubin who won all three of his fights and Chelsea Gomez who won both her divisions. Most of our athletes fought in two divisions as part of their grass roots training and development.

Well done Team Taya!!! An excellent preparation for the upcoming Gold Coast Open on July 28-29, 2018, NSW State Selections on August 12, 2018 and the Australian National Championships on September 22-24, 2018 in Bendigo, VIC. Thank you to all the families for your support and encouragement.

Team Taya achieved excellent results at the Sydney Taekwondo Festival last weekend bringing home a total tally of 30 medals over the two-day competition with 16 Golds, 11 Silvers and 3 Bronzes and awarded 3rd Place Best Overall Club after host Martial Arts Spirit who got 2nd Place and 1st Place Impact Martial Arts from Canberra.

Notable performances are Aaditya Kadam who won in the Juniors Black Belt under 45 kg division over long time opponent from QLD and was awarded the Best Male Junior Fighter of the Festival, and our four double Gold Medallist girls -

Cadet Ysabella Querubin who took the challenge to move up in juniors winning the Juniors under 42 kg Black Belt division and her cadets under 44 kg division;

Cadet Sofia Querubin who even just as a Red Belt won both her Cadet Black Belt divisions under 37 kg and 41 kg;

Youth Chelsea Gomez who won both her Red Belt 8-9 yrs under 28 kg and 31 kg divisions; and,

Youth Alannah Bouery who won all three of her Yellow Belt matches in high scoring fashion showing dominance in court in just her second competition as a beginner in both 8-9 yrs and 10-11 yrs divisions.
